Why I’m traveling from California to Texas to meet Selena Quintanilla
Have you heard? There’s a huge party and everyone is invited! It’s a fiesta, Fiesta De La Flor, to be exact.
There’ll be music, food, dancing and a whole lot more going on. The only person who won’t be there, is the one whom they’re having this party for.

She’s a woman, a daughter, a friend, a wife, a singer, a role model, an icon and my Idol –known to the world as Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
“If you have a dream, don’t let anyone take it away and always believe that the impossible is always possible” –that’s one of Selena’s most memorable quotes.
On April 16th — what would have been Selena’s 44th birthday– I’ll be jumping on a plane from Santa Ana, Calif. to San Antonio, Texas to finally meet my idol, Selena.
That’s why this year, on her 20th death anniversary, I’m making my dream come true by visiting Corpus Christi (a.k.a. “Selenaville” among her beloved fans).
I plan to make my first pit stop at several Selena-related sights and locations that I’ve made note of throughout the years on my website LoveSelena.com, such as: the Selena boutiques, The Selena Star at The Hard Rock Cafe and the Historic Sunset Station where the video “No Me Queda Mas” was filmed.

In addition, I’ll visit Corpus Christi, where the two-day Fiesta de la Flor festival will be held and the heart of everything Selena: Her museum, her bronze statue, her old house on Bloomington and her final resting place to pay my way-over-due respects.
For many years, I’ve thought about how I would react to be in those same spots as she once walked and visited; moreover, the place where she was laid to rest on the gloomy day of April 3rd 1995.
Would I cry? Would I be excited to finally be this close to Selena and to tell her how much she means to me? Until this day I have no idea what our encounter will be like until I step foot in her hometown.
There’s a huge party and all my friends are invited! Some, I’ve known for many years but never met, some are new friends. We’re all from different parts of the world and on this special occasion we will finally meet and unite as one to celebrate the life and legacy that the Queen of Tex Mex left behind in 1995.

Someone recently said “I can’t believe it’s been 20 years” and I replied, “It doesn’t seem that long because Selena Lives, Selena lives in our hearts!”
Which explains why I’m traveling from California to Texas to meet my idol and my queen, Selena Quintanilla-Perez.
