Meet the venturous and colorful flock of ‘Rio 2′ | VIDEO
From the lively city of Rio de Janeiro to the exotic wildlife of the Amazon Rainforest comes a flock of stars that will make your “Rio 2″ experience an unforgettable one. VOXXI caught up with some of its stars who talked about their roles in the film.
“There’s a lot to be learned and there are new characters,” Rodrigo Santoro told VOXXI.
“You are going to get a great look of the Amazon Rainforest, all the species and different animals,” the Brazilian actor said on what to expect from the upcoming film.
Santoro, whose character is Tulio, also summed up the flick in three words: family, adventure and love.
But what really makes the film a thrilling escapade is the “flock” of new talents that have joined the “Rio” cast for its sequel.
Cuban actor Andy Garcia debuts as Eduardo, Jewel’s (Anne Hathaway) overprotective father.
“I play the king of the blue birds and the protective father,” Garcia told VOXXI. “I guess I was a bit typecast,” he added.
American actress Kristin Chenoweth also joins the gang as she takes the enjoyable role of Gabi, a poisonous frog who is infatuated with bad bird Nigel (Jemaine Clement).
A joyful Chenoweth said preparing for this role was a piece of cake because she’s little and just like any other girl, she’s had experience with an unresponsive crush.
And wait until you meet the smooth and sassy Roberto, depicted by no other than pop crooner, Bruno Mars.
In “Rio 2″ the singer of Puerto Rican descent plays the role of Jewel’s childhood friend, who not only scores goals in soccer games but has a way with the lady Spix macaws.
Get wild with the cast of “Rio 2″
The new bunch of birds is tantalizing and only adds to the fun cast of characters we already know, like Anne Hathaway and George Lopez.
One of the engaging scenes is when Blu, Jewel and their children go visit their blue-colored family members in the Amazon, where Jewel is greeted by a festive welcome back celebration.
Anne Hathaway told VOXXI things are usually similar back home: “I come from a very musical family,” she said. “Yea, I see my family as a party.”
Mexican comedian George Lopez, on the other hand, talked about working with Jamie Foxx and Will.i.am once again.
“My character [Rafael] is very close to Jamie Foxx [Nico] and Will.i.am. [Pedro],” Lopez said. “Those three always go together, it’s always a lot of fun.”
Indeed it’s one fun experience!
“Rio 2″ directed by Brazilian director Carlos Saldanha premieres April 11 in theaters.
