Watch Reik Talk New Wisin & Yandel Collab, Success from Latin Pop to Urban, & More [VIDEO]
Reik continues their unprecedented run of worldwide hits with “Duele”, their new single launched last Friday, March 22nd. The collaboration with Latin music icons Wisin & Yandel has taken digital platforms by storm. In less than 4 days, the single has reached 8.5 million views on YouTube, over 920 thousand streams on Spotify.
The track’s arresting lyrics, energetic beat, and rhythmic appeal set the tone for the new music video directed by Nuno Gomes, which follows a cinematic narrative of first love. Reik and Wisin & Yandel appear in an airplane hangar in Los Angeles, a reference to the paper airplanes that symbolize the love shared by the protagonists in the story.
“Duele” is Reik’s follow up to “Ráptame”, “Amigos Con Derechos” feat. Maluma and “Me Niego” feat. Wisin and Ozuna. “Me Niego” has more than 800 million YouTube views, nearly 400 million Spotify streams and rose to No. 1 on the “Latin Airplay” and “Latin Pop” Billboard’ charts. The song cemented Reik’s status as an RIAA-certified Diamond record act. Reik’s “Amigos Con Derechos,” has also been seen around the world, as it reached No. 1 on Billboard’s “Latin Pop” chart and received 270 million YouTube views, 167 million Spotify streams and has been RIAA certified 2x Platinum status in the U.S.
Recently, Reik won five awards at Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro and last week received recognition at Spain’s famous Dial Awards. The band also received one nomination at the iHeartRadio Music Awards and is currently a finalist in 4 categories at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, airing Thursday, April 25th on Telemundo.
