Eugenio Derbez Gets Real About Switching Stereotypes In ‘Overboard’ [VIDEO]
Eugenio Derbez is sick and tired of seeing Latinos in Hollywood land the same movie roles—criminals, gardeners, housekeepers, drug dealers—that’s why he took matters into his own hands and blessed us with Overboard.

The new comedy flick, directed by Rob Greenberg and produced by Derbez, is a remake of the 1987 film of the same name. Starring Derbez, Anna Faris, and Eva Longoria, Overboard tells the story of a working class single mom who convinces a rich playboy with amnesia that they are a married couple.
Besides the beautiful life lesson it leaves at the end (sorry, not going to give spoilers), Derbez switched stereotypes, explaining that he was fed up of getting offered the same roles. “Now the Mexican is a millionaire and the one who cleans the floor is a ‘gringa’,” he told PulsoPOP. “This movie dignifies us Latinos and shows people that we are more than what they believe.”
Overboard hits theaters nationwide on May 4th. Check out our complete interview below:
