Meet Rising Venezuelan Artist Jerry Di: ‘I’m A Chameleon in the Industry’
Jerry Di toured Europe during the summer, delighting countries such as Belgium, London, and Manchester with his unique Latin R&B flow. “It was crazy to see a lot of Europeans singing in Spanish,” he said to Pulso POP over the phone.
The rising Venezuelan composer and artist kicks off his music career under the wing of Nacho, who he says is his musical godfather. “He’s my mentor. He opened the doors for me. He offered the project to Universal Music and we were able to sign a very good deal. Nacho is using his experience to help grow my career,” he said of the renowned “Bailame” singer. “The most curious advice he ever gave me was to be very careful because that who spins, gets dizzy,” he noted.
Jerry Di, who likes to describe himself as a perfectionist and organized, considers himself a chameleon in the music industry. “I just love music. I need it to transmit my message,” he said.
Currently, Di is making the rounds with his new single “Confuzio,” a song about a man who can’t fathom why his girlfriend is always arguing with him. The single follows his other 2019-released songs “Verano en Paris,” “Shorty,” and “Papi Cachondo.”
“Right now we’re just bombarding the genre with music, marking my style so that people get to know me,” he said, adding that a remix for “Verano en Paris” with Zion & Lennox and Lyanno is in the works, in addition to future collaborations with Lenny Tavarez, Cazzu, and other artists of the moment.
“It’s challenging,” he expressed of being a Venezuelan artist, “but I want to motivate a lot of Venezuelans who are working hard in the exterior.”
