Meet MoMo: The Emerging Artist Bringing Her Cuban Latinx Flavor to the Game
Monique González a.k.a. MoMo, who kicked off her career as an actress and dance, never knew she had a passion for music until her grandmother spotted her singing when she was younger. It was then, that her parents signed her up for vocal classes and the rest, is history.
Today, the Miami-based Cuban-American rising act presents her debut single “Tumba,” featuring Jamaican singer Konshens, putting on the radar her uptempo melodies, refreshing lyrics and Latinx flavor.
“I took a trip to Puerto Rico after my manager put me in contact with Jumbo and Gaby Music,” she told PulsoPOP about her new single. “I’ve always loved ‘Tumba La Casa’ and I wanted my song to have that feeling, like a Friday night anthem for my girls.”
The music video, which premiered July 26, not only highlights MoMo’s infectious vocals but also all of her other talents. “I incorporated my acting and dancing, and was part of the creative process,” she assures.
MoMo, whose music is percussion-based due to her love for the congas, promises to bring to the table more music, more dancing and more everything because “once you get a taste of me, you’re gonna want ‘momo,'” she jokes.
