Lila Downs and Juanes? Now, that’s hot!
If there’s one thing I love in life, it’s definitely new projects and collaborations between great artists. That’s the case for Mexican singer and songwriter Lila Downs, who has just released a brand spanking new track with Juanes.
Lila and Juanes bring to the forefront a serious issue with their new single called “La Patria Madrina,” dedicated to immigrant children who migrate across borders along the continent’s cacao route.
In the single, which forms part of her latest album Balas y Chocolate (Bullets and Chocolate), the GRAMMY-winning artist sings “You are the country of all of my dreams/He who doesn’t respect, I’ll split his heart in two.”
The Associated Press describes her most recent production as “More politically charged than her previous collections, the album’s lyrics are as much a lament as a call to action.”
And a call to action it is –like very much of her previous amazing work. “La Patria Madrina” is a song of hope for Mexico and Latin America.
