Justin Quiles —artistically known as J Quiles— is sounding full blast on radios everywhere with his new single “Me Curare.” “It’s a song that people can dance to,” he told Pulso POP. “A song that’s got my flavor, my lane.” The 26 year old, who was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut to Puerto Rican parents, is one of the new faces of reggaeton and is brining a lot to the genre’s table.

Though he’s a fresh face in the movement, Quiles began his career at the age of 13 thanks to his brother who was always frees styling at the barber shop. He was also 13 when he wrote his first song. “When I was 17, I decided this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” Quiles said. “I started recording songs and dropping them on social media,” he added, emphasizing that YouTube and Myspace were great stepping stones for his career.
The captivating and sensual record, “Me Curare,” forms part of Quiles’ upcoming album called “La Promesa,” title which honors his nickname. “My friends named me like that because they say I promise a lot for this new generation,” he said. The title also pays tribute to his loyal fans, who have supported his music from day one. “I promise a lot to my fans: good music, great vibes, a lot of beautiful things,” he said, noting that he’s already worked on 20 tracks for the production.

Earlier this year, the Puerto Rican artist formed part of the “New Urban Movement Panel” at the Latin Billboards Conference, where he joined the panel with some of the big dogs such as Nicky Jam, Plan B and J Balvin. “I started not so long ago and I already have the respect from a lot of people,” he concluded.
