PulsoPOP hit the opening gala on Thur. March 8th, where we talked to celebrity guests such as composer Erika Ender and merengue singer Elvis Crespo, who both—although they’ve already visited (and absolutely love!) the European country—were thrilled to form part of the festival for the first time.
Not only is the festival celebrating over a decade of presentations in Miami, but the Ballet Nacional de España is also celebrating its 40th anniversary. Under the direction of Antonio Najarro, BNE includes 40 dancers and 11 musicians, showcasing all of Spain’s dance styles through new choreography with a modern twist.
“More than contemporary, it’s really my style of dance,” said Najarro to The Miami Herald. “People can say it’s very modern and contemporary, but we can smell the tradition. … I always say that it’s my own style of dance, and it’s inspired in my whole life.”
