Is Don Francisco breaking up with ‘Sabado Gigante’?
UPDATE (04-17-15): After 53 years of forming part of our Saturday nights, “Sabado Gigante” will go off air on September 19, 2015, Univision confirmed. TV host and personality Don Francisco shared this heartfelt message during Saturday, April 18th episode.
Brace yourselves because word on the street is that Latino’s own Don Francisco will call it quits with “Sabado Gigante.” I know, I know, tell me about it.
TV y Notas via a Puerto Rican radio show has delivered the news, stating that popular Chilean host Mario Kreutzberger will abandon the show and Univision Network.
Kreutzberger, known to world as Don Francisco, has been the face of “Sabado Gigante” for over five decades. The Univision show is a Spanish-language television program that’s aired in many cities around the U.S. and Latin America. It’s Univision’s longest-running program and the longest-running television variety series in history, having aired over 2,450 episodes and over 50 seasons.

According to TV y Notas, Univision is ready to let go of this iconic Latino figure because they have a new strategy consisting of fresh, young faces representing the network.
Yes, Don Francisco is 74 years old, but we’re not ready to let him go! If he goes, so does La Cuatro and El Chacal. And we’re not having it. Nope. Never.
We’re not sure if this is some kind of joke in honor of April’s Fools Day (since the news began making the rounds on April 1st). As of now no official statement has been made by Univision or Don Francisco’s reps.
