We caught up with the 29-year-old indie songstress to find out more of her new ventures!
PulsoPOP: What can you tell me about your new single “Ruptura”?
Ximena Sariñana: It’s a song that I wrote with Mario Domm. It’s your typical heartbreak song and total suffering. It’s a song that I like a lot. The video can reflect that solitude. The song makes it believe that everything is O.K., but under everything there’s still an anxious feeling.
PP: How is your third studio album “No Todo lo Puedes Dar” different than your other productions?
XS: It’s an album that I love, it’s my favorite album. It required a lot of work and I was very excited. It’s an album that defines me as a person and where I discovered my style.
PP: When did you know you wanted to do music instead of acting?
XS: I’ve always liked music and acting at the same time, but one thing happened before the other. It’s hard to ask an 8-year-old what they want to do in life, but in my case, I already knew I wanted to do both. When I was 15, I decided to start learning music and one thing led to another.
PP: You’re headlining in your own US tour. What cities have you yet to visit?
XS: I’ve gone almost everywhere in the U.S. I feel very fortunate that I can visit many cities.
PP: You’re also going to tour with Juanes in the second leg of your tour. How do you feel about that?
XS: I’m very excited to share stage with Juanes, he’s my friend and I respect him a lot. It’s going to be a fun tour and I’m thrilled.

PP: What would you say is your biggest achievement to date?
XS: There’s a lot of things, it’s hard to pick one. It feels nice to win an award, but I’d say simply experiences. I remember my first show at Metropolitan in Mexico, I remember a lot of noches de fiestas with colleagues. I remember finishing my new album, I was alone when I heard it for the first time in my car and it was a very successful moment for me.
PP: You’ve collaborated with big stars including Miguel Bose. Who else would you like to collaborate with in a near future?
XS: I’m into a lot of Latino and Mexican artists. Hmmmm, I’d like to collaborate with someone from Café Tacuba or Jaguares, they are emblematic bands in Mexican music.
