COASTCITY Open Up About Their Bromance, Musical Identity & New Single ‘Salvaje’ [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
Jean Rodriguez and Danny Flores, best known in the music biz as COASTCITY, are making the rounds with their new single Salvaje, a feel-good party song with a primal sexual vibe.
Taking it up a notch in their lyrics, Jean tells PulsoPOP that they wanted the song to be fun. “We usually have a line but this song is a little raunchy but still keeping it sexy and obviously, we’re always respectful of women but we wanted it to be fun,” he says.
The single, which is about the hunt and desire people experience when we are insanely attracted to someone, was created between L.A. and Miami and foreshadows the musical direction of the forthcoming EP in which the duo hones in on their Caribbean soul sound.
In true COASTCITY fashion, the two songwriters and producers—who are Puerto Rican-born, Miami based but reside in L.A.—fused their cultural and musical backgrounds, giving life to not only “Salvaje” but their entire repertoire.
“The spotlight is on Latin urban music globally,” says Danny to PulsoPOP. “It’ll be easy for us to jump on the bandwagon and do straight up reggaeton. We love the Latin urban sound but we also love R&B, we love soul music, and we’re very true to our Caribbean roots too so COASTCITY is really a fusion of those three,” he says of the perfect blend. “We’re very true to our identity.”
In an exclusive 1:1 with PulsoPOP founder Jessica Roiz, COASTCITY sat down to talk all about their new single, their Latin GRAMMY nomination, their music, and undeniable bromance.
