Meet Alaya: Emerging Venezuelan Artist Talks ‘Tocamelo’ Ft. Zion & Lennox [VIDEO]
After Billboard highlighted Alaya as “The Latin Artist On The Rise” last year for her brilliant performance of “Bling Bling” (track with which she achieved almost six million views of her video on YouTube), Alaya will once again captivate us with her new song: “Tócamelo.” It is a fusion of Reggaetón, Hip Hop, and a touch of the West Coast Pop sound, in which she has collaborated with the renowned reggeaton duo, Zion & Lennox.
The song, which was produced by Sebastián Jácome known as “Sebasjay” – who has produced some of the industry’s most successful songs for Enrique Iglesias and Gloria Trevi, among other big names, narrates the overwhelming effect that the song has on Alaya who, upon hearing it is compelled to ask the DJ to play it over and over again, because the rhythm drives her “crazy” and makes her lose control on the dance floor.
The video was directed by Pablo Croce, who won an MTV Video Music award, for Maná’s “Labios Compartidos” video, and has four Latin GRAMMYs nominations under his belt.
To accompany the powerful rhythms of “Tócamelo“, Croce developed a story in which Alaya appears as a cheerful girl who, stopping in front of a food truck, sees Zion and Lennox singing one of their songs on television, and being a dreamer like she is, drifts off into a fantasy about what it would be like to share a stage with them. This dream is soon transformed into a powerful sequence in the video in which Alaya seduces the viewer with her performance, dance and unique style, whisking you away into her world and making you believe that you are watching an artist who is a natural born entertainer.
Alayais sure that the contagious rhythms of “Tócamelo” will not only be played around all dance clubs worldwide but will also be the perfect prelude to her debut set to release in 2019, which is already emerging as what is promised to be a musical bombshell.
“Tócamelo” is now available on all digital and streaming platforms.
