Telemundo announced the premiere of its new super series “El Barón” on Tuesday, January 29 at 10 p.m. ET. Filmed in Colombia and based in the ’70s, “El Barón” tells the story of Ignacio “Nacho” Montero, a young Mexican rebel, dreamer and visionary who changed the world of drug trafficking.
Francisco Angelini and Maria Elisa Camargo lead this story with a star cast composed of Jorge Luis Moreno, Variel Sánchez, Mauricio Mejía, Gabriel Tarantini, Tania Valencia, Lorena Garcia, Julián Diaz, Kornel Doman, Andrés Echevarría, Juana Arboleda, Pedro Suárez and the special participation of Julio Bracho, Juan Pablo Llano and Carolina Gómez.
“We are very excited to bring ‘El Barón’, a refreshing offer that shows the story of a bandit of another class, inspired by some real events and that, in addition, has an impeccable production quality and attention to detail when recreating the ’70s. I’m sure that ‘Nacho Montero’ will captivate the entire audience,” said Marcos Santana, president of Telemundo Global Studios.
In “El Barón” ‘Nacho’ begins with the smuggling of cigarettes, then marijuana and, finally, thanks to his charisma and intelligence, he manages to ally with Pablo Escobar and create the most important distribution route in the world. This super series recreates scenarios, costumes and an extensive iconic musical catalog of the time, capturing the essence of the era and making the audience live the story in a more intimate and light.
