At the Meet the Women Behind the Songs event hosted by Women in Music in Miami, the 35-year-old Spanish singer got real about what inspired her to write the song. She explained that there was a case in Spain where a woman decided to leave the bar with a man and was later raped by him and four of his friends—they were know as “la manada.”
Although justice was served and the men are all locked up, this woman’s story inspired women everywhere, including Beatriz Luengo.
“I realized that we need to talk about feminism everywhere, including at the clubs where girls like to have a drink and go dancing,” Luengo told PulsoPOP. “‘Caprichosa‘ is an urban song that is sexy and sarcastic but let’s it be known that I’m going to decide what I’m going to do with my body.”
