It’s been a travel-filled year for Rene Perez Joglar, who’s stormed around the world in 2015 seeking inspiration for his new album. In July, the Calle 13 frontman, better known as Residente, confirmed that the Puerto Rican urban duo will take a temporary break to embark solo projects.

Perez, who recently became the first Latino to be honored at World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, announced early this week that he was on his way to a “special place to make music.” A couple hours later, he revealed that he was in Africa —Ghana, to be specific.

Ghana, known for its diverse wildlife, old forts and secluded beaches, has received the Latin Grammy and Grammy winner with arms wide open.
