Q&A with Natti Natasha
PulsoPOP: You’ve released “Dutty Love” and now “Perdido En Tus Ojos” with Don Omar. How did that awesome friendship begin?
Natti Natasha: It began 2010 in the studios when I was recording a song for a project that I had no clue what I was doing! *laughs* He was recording at the same studio, just different schedules, but he heard my songs and he was interested. So, the producers called me to meet William, which I didn’t know his name was William, and when I got there, they introduced us and that’s how it all started.
PP: Take us back to the day you found out you were nominated for Premios Tu Mundo, what were you doing?
NN: I was in Dominican Republic, visiting my parents. They called me and told me I was nominated and I couldn’t believe it! Everyone was happy, we had a party. Being nominated already makes me a winner.

PP: What would winning this award mean to you and your career?
NN: Winning would be another accomplishment because all of the hours we’ve put in the studios and that creative moment. It means that we’re being ackowledge and it’s pretty special.
PP: Do you have an acceptance speech ready or you’re going to wing it?
NN: I believe I’m going to wing it, pretty much how I do everything! It’ll be an honor, really. I just hope I don’t cry or get too nervous that I’ll just start laughing and not say anything. *laughs*
PP: You’ve worked with Don Omar, Tony Dize and Farruko to name a few. Who else would you like to collaborate with?
NN: I would love to record with Enrique Iglesias, Marc Anthony, Usher —I’m just throwing out there. Zion & Lennox, Farruko again, J Balvin. There’s just so many great artists out there.
PP: As a woman in the urban genre, what’s the most challenging and rewarding thing about being in the music biz?
NN: I think that being a woman in this industry is pretty tough because you have to earn respect. I may not be the most amazing singer, but by keeping my essence says a lot. It feels great when people give me the opportunity. I work every day, I like it and I enjoy it. I try to have fun, enjoy the creative moment but also be one of the guys.

PP: Following your debut album “All About Me” (2012), is there a sophomore album on the way?
NN: I’m actually working on it with a lot of details. There’s a team, so I’m trying to produce songs that I know people will enjoy. I want to release songs to represent women and let everyone know that we have a voice!
