The tour, which is titled “The Kingdom: Daddy Yankee vs. Don Omar,” is set to kick off December 5th in La Isla del Encanto. Though no dates have officially been released, the tour is set for a 60-date show that is scheduled to run for two years.
We also know that it’s framed as a musical “boxing match,” where fans in each city will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite musical sets or “rounds” via an app designed for the concert.
“I was motivated by doing something completely different — and by the size of the offer. This is a sport, and I like to be the best athlete,” said Yankee, 38, exclusively to Billboard. Don, 37, on the other hand, clarified the following to Billboard: “I am not his best friend, and he is not my best friend, but we respect each other. That desire to be the best is what has pushed us to be better.”
This is huge news for fans of El Cangri and El Rey. If you recall, the Puerto Rican stars, who kicked off their careers around the same time, have had a rocky relationship that goes back to more than a decade ago. Nowadays, it seems as if the “Gasolina” singer and “Pobre Diabla” singer have made their peace. In fact, they even recorded together for two songs on Don Omar’s recent album “The Last Don 2.”
