Mau & Ricky On ‘Mi Mala’ Remix: ‘More Than A Song, It’s A Statement’ [INTERVIEW]
As sons of ’90s crooner Ricardo Montaner, it’s a given that Mau and Ricky grew up listening to latin pop ballads and why they entered the music biz as pop singers themselves. But as the industry changes, so does their flow and that’s how in late 2017, the Miami-based duo dropped one of the hottest urban songs known to man kind: Mi Mala.

Featuring Colombian urban diva, Karol G, Mi Mala is an empowering single about a girl who decides whether she wants to be with a man or not. Though they had lots of faith in the song, they never expected it to blow up. Now, the Venezuelan/Argentine brothers are making the rounds with the Mi Mala remix feature three other badass women: Becky G, Leslie Grace, Lali Esposito, and Karol G, obvi.
“More than a song itself, the statement is that we’re all in this together—working on a song together, it’s the first time it ever happened in our industry. Women are killing it right now,” they said to PulsoPOP. “We were raised in a household where women were the center of everything. My mother has always been the most important part of our family. Women have dominated our life always and in music, it shouldn’t be any different. We are very happy being in the shadow of four beautiful women in this video and just in life, knowing that women are everything,” the duo concluded.

Next for Mau and Ricky is a promo tour, new music, and writing songs for artists such as Juanes. “We’re enjoying this wave of provoking that movement in people. We want to keep making music,” they added.
